Another loss and Van Gaal quits
Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Stoke City only served to increase the pressure on Van Gaal, who has overseen a run of four straight losses and seven games without a win in all competitions.

Van Gaal pointed to the awful back header by Memphis Depay that gift-wrapped Stoke’s first goal for Bojan Krkic in the 19th minute as the main reason for United’s latest defeat.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will quit before he is fired if his team does not “respond” with a convincing performance in what is now a crunch match against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Monday.
The 64-year-old admitted his players froze when he needed them the most.
“It is very hard to do that in just two days but we shall try”, van Gaal, who coached the Netherlands to bronze medal at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, said.
Is van Gaal to blame alone?
Mark Hughes had nothing but praise for Stoke City in their win over Manchester United.
Asked if he felt he still had the support of the United board, Van Gaal said: “You will have to wait and see, but I think so”.
And Bosnich, who played for both United and Chelsea during an 11-year stint in the Premier League, believes Mourinho’s winning pedigree makes him the ideal candidate to replace the beleaguered Dutchman. “More important is that my players shall manage that because they have to perform”.
Having opted to drop Wayne Rooney at the Britannia Stadium, it remains to be seen whether or not the captain returns from the start against the Premier League champions having made a significant impact after coming off the bench for the second half on Saturday.
“[He reacted] like a very good professional and I have already told a lot of press conferences that he has a big job on the pitch and off the pitch”. Sometimes I do it by myself. We have to cope with that and look for the solution.
“I think we were better in the second half [at Stoke], but we have to finish our chances”, he said.
The Brazil under-20 global stressed on the importance of everyone sticking together at the club as criticism of under-fire manager Louis van Gaal and the players has intensified.

“In the second half we played better than the first half but the problem is we didn’t dare to play, and that’s my analysis”. “On another day, we could have scored another goal or two so that is the only slight disappointment from today”.
