Another Mabel resident dies in head-on collision
A second fatal head-on traffic accident on the same day in Fillmore County in far southeastern Minnesota was reported Tuesday afternoon.

Killed in the 7 a.m. accident was Enos Swartzentruber, 19, of Mabel.
Knowlton was driving east in the westbound lane of Highway 44, according to a report of the State Patrol, when his Dodge collided in the westbound lane with the semi, which was headed west. The driver of the vehicle, a 69-year-old woman from Mabel, was killed. The Fillmore County Coroner says the driver of the vehicle died on the scene.
Two passengers in the Infiniti, 38-year-old Donnette Goldsmith and 8-year-old Shawntae Goldsmith of Preston, suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the Mayo Clinic. The driver of the semi, 50-year-old George Opperman of Waukon, Iowa, was hurt.
