Another militant’s body found, gunfight continues in J&K

Firing between security forces and militants began again on Monday morning after police received information about the presence of a militant inside a building.

The three terrorists killed in Poonch had been holed up inside an under-construction government building close to an army camp. Two bodies of terrorists were recovered during the search operation.

One militant was killed on Sunday, two were killed yesterday and the remaining one was eliminated today, a police officer said.

Srinagar-In occupied Kashmir, the death toll in the two-day operation launched by Indian Army against Kashmiri youth has surged to seven, police said.

One team entered an under-construction mini-secretariat building and the other barged into the house of Mohammed Nazir Mir in the neighboring Allah Peer locality. A J&K policeman was killed when terrorists opened fire on the security forces.

One of the injured is Sub Inspector of Special Operation Group (SoG) Manzoor Hussain and another a civilian Tariq, police said, adding the injured have been hospitalised. According to reports, the terrorists attacked at around 7:30 am on Sunday after they were spotted by the police.. He said that militants had come with full preparation to disturb peace in the border district as there is calm and communal harmony in the area. Army also foiled infiltration attempts at Tangdhar and Gurez sectors.

In another incident several people were injured in a clash after a raid by security forces in Pulwama district. “They are creating trouble in Kashmir”, he said.
