Another poll shows Clinton opening up lead over Trump
The latest exchanges cast a shadow over the show of unity the party sought to project at the Republican National Convention that formally nominated Trump for president in July.

In a phone interview with The New York Times, Whitman clarified that her support for Clinton won’t just be at the ballot box – it will be monetary as well.
“He is unfit to serve our party and can not lead this country”, Hanna said. “He is unrepentant in all things”.
Richard Hanna (R-NY) said he will vote for Hillary Clinton in November, making him the first Republican member of Congress to openly announce his support for the Democratic presidential nominee. But increasingly, Clinton and her supporters have been explicitly appealing to Republicans, hoping to win over moderates turned off by Trump’s divisive rhetoric and foreign policy inexperience. Asked about that, Boozman said, “It’s fine if you feel your time is better spent campaigning elsewhere, but if it’s done to distance yourself from President Obama and his policies and Hillary’s embrace of a third term, and not support the Democratic platform, then voters, particularly Democrats, need to know where you stand”.
“These people would climb over barbed wire for Donald Trump, chew on glass to make sure that they get him elected”, Lewandowski, who was sacked from the campaign in June, said on CNN.
A day earlier, Sally Bradshaw, an architect of the Republican National Committee’s 2013 “Growth and Opportunity” report, said she’s leaving the GOP.
Eric Trump added Tuesday that Pat Smith, the mother of a Benghazi attack victim who is highly critical of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, has not received the same amount of airtime as the Khan family. Johnson said her handling of the Benghazi attack and use of a private email server while secretary of state has “completely disqualified” her from being president. He said Trump had sacrificed nothing and no one.
“The difference is that it’s Donald Trump who continues to make defamatory statements to the point that people like Sen”.
At the time, she also made a pledge not to back Trump should he emerge from the primaries victorious.
Clinton’s many, not-so-subtle jabs at Trump continued, with the Democratic nominee criticizing his Republican National Convention speech.
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, told CBS News on Tuesday his father’s comments toward the Khans have been “blown hugely out of proportion”. “And that can’t start until he apologizes to the Khans”, Dakota Meyer, one of a handful of living Medal of Honor recipients and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s son-in-law, wrote Tuesday on Twitter.
Trump invited more tension Tuesday when he told The Washington Post he’s not ready to endorse Ryan in next week’s Republican primary contest against Paul Nehlen, praising the underdog for running “a very good campaign”. Blasting Trump for his remarks about building a wall (and having Mexico pay for it), as well as his highly publicized comments about barring Muslims for entering the country, Clinton argued that the GOP nominee “wants to divide us from the rest of the world, and from each other”. Said Ryan’s campaign spokesman Zack Roday, “Neither Speaker Ryan nor anyone on his team has ever asked for Donald Trump’s endorsement”.

Whitman’s comments came as Trump has clashed with members of his own party over a protracted dispute with the family of a Muslim US soldier who was killed in action.
