ANOTHER Thai terror attack as explosive thrown from bridge

The Yanawa police official said officers believed the device was thrown from a road and rail bridge which spans Bangkok’s Chao Phraya river and overlooks the canal below.

Early Tuesday morning, investigators surveyed the damage as police and soldiers guarded the area, still littered with shattered glass and other debris.

The man, wearing a yellow t-shirt, who police are now searching for.

Japanese media are reporting that a 31-year-old Japanese man was among the seriously injured.

“We still don’t know for sure who did this and why”, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon told reporters.

While police and army presence will increase around Bangkok, the Tourism Authority of Thailand says that life in the city is “continuing as normal” and banks, hotels, tour operators, shopping malls, restaurants and public transit systems remain open.

“We are looking for them now, some of them are in Isaan (northeastern Thailand)”, he said. The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok urged its citizens in the country “to strengthen awareness of their surroundings, attend to their travel safety and make rational travel plans”. The bomb was placed inside the compound of the popular Erawan Brahma temple thronged throughout the day by Thais and foreigners.
