Another U.S. senator lines up in support of Iran nuclear deal

Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish U.S. Senator, said he had concerns about how the inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities would work or if they would happen at all.

Tester told MTN News in a phone interview that he’s decided to support the controversial agreement after “reading it multiple times” and talking with officials in the Obama Administration, Jewish leaders and other groups about the pact, which was reached after extensive negotiations.

He said that European governments could walk away from the U.S.-led sanctions strategy against Russian Federation, that the United States and Israel would have no support for military action against Iran, if such action were necessary, and that the U.S. dollar would lose its status as the reserve currency of the world. Carl Levin, who was chairman of the Armed Services Committee, said Thursday he backs an Obama administration deal aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. The House of Representatives and the Senate can override a presidential veto by securing a two-thirds majority vote in both chambers.

Sen. Chuck Schumer has become the lightning rod for the debate over the agreement with Iran on nuclear proliferation.

“We have that powerful tool, and if used, I think that’s a better, better chance in a very hard world than an agreement that is so totally flawed”, Schumer said.

“He’s the type of person that would like to try to exhaust all measures first“, Parker said.

The White House, with President Obama leading the way, has insisted that the Iran deal is an alternative to constants wars and hostilities between the U.S. and its allies and the Islamic state.

They’re ready to say, “we’re the ones paying the price for your sanctions“. We fought six years of war, we lost a million people, and you guys were giving him the weapons to do it. And when they gassed our citizens, you didn’t go to the UN the way you did with [Syrian President Bashar al-Assad]. He was concerned about provisions for the P5+1 nations to re-impose sanctions if Iran didn’t hold up its end of the bargain. If Iran or the United States thought that the other was not complying, it could complain to the commission.

The Democratic activist group MoveOn said Monday more than 23,602 of its members have joined a campaign donor strike against Schumer. He said the U.S. must be diligent in tracking Iranian funding after sanctions are lifted to ensure it’s not spending to promote anti-American efforts in the region, or to fund attacks against Middle Eastern allies.

But the agreement will require Iran to reduce its stockpile by 98 percent, to reduce its number of centrifuges from 19,000 to 6,104, and to keep its enrichment level so low that it would not be suitable for weapons, the White House says. The good news is that I’m a Republican and I’m out of office, so I can freely voice my opinion.
