Another unclear Trump stance: Will he give an immigration speech?

Trump, who also met Thursday in NY with members of a new Republican Party initiative meant to train young – and largely minority – volunteers, has been working to win over blacks and Latinos in light of his past inflammatory comments and has been claiming that the Democrats have taken minority voters’ support for granted.

But the Republican nominee declined in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper to clarify whether he would still forcibly deport the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the USA – a major tenet of his immigration platform – after he suggested this week he was “softening” on the idea. “When they come back in, then they can start paying taxes, but there is no path to legalization unless they leave the country and then come back”. “Calling him out on the fact that he has supporters like David Duke connected with the Ku Klux Klan who are going around and saying Donald Trump is their candidate because Donald Trump is pushing their values”, Kaine told a crowd of young students here.

The Clinton campaign says that he built his presidential candidacy during the Republican primary around “demonizing the immigrant and Latino communities and deporting 16 million people”. “We’re going to see what happens”.

Even if Ann Coulter’s feelings are hurt over his recent “softening” on immigration, she had no problem justifying the Republican presidential candidate’s mockery of reporter Serge Kovaleski, Jezebel reported.

Trump denied in an interview Monday morning on Fox News that he was “flip-flopping” on the issue of illegal immigration. Half of those who back Trump believe immigrants are more likely to commit crimes than those born here, the Pew data show, while a third say immigrants don’t work as hard as Americans and 35% say illegals “mostly fill jobs US citizens would like”.

Trump’s pivot is turning a lot of attention toward one Trump supporter in particular.

But he didn’t express much faith that Trump would be consistent.

I mean, what will he say next?

If you are polled about who you would support or vote for president, tell them that you are for Gary Johnson.

Several conservative critics on Twitter noted that Trump’s new policy – which includes having illegal immigrants pay a fine and back taxes – was similar if not identical to the one proposed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and the bipartisan group of Senators knows as the Gang of Eight.

Trump continued: “No citizenship. There’s no amnesty. But we work with them”, Trump said Wednesday.

Conway said the campaign’s goal is to move the focus of attention off Trump’s temperament and personality and onto Clinton’s plans for immigration reform, healthcare and the economy.

The decision came after Trump, whose hardline immigration policies appealed to many GOP primary voters, met Saturday with his Hispanic advisory council and said in an interview Monday morning that he wants to “come up with a really fair, but firm” immigration policy.

A Pew survey released Thursday found 24 percent of the public favoring toughening border security first and 29 percent letting people stay in the country.

Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, disputed such claims.

As Clinton tarred him with representing the “alt-right” at a speech in Reno, Nevada, Trump offered his own pushbacks, saying he was not acquainted with the fringe world that Clinton said had essentially merged with his campaign.
