“Let me speak personally because I was in the senate and worked on just about every piece of legislation that imposed economic sanctions on Iran to stop its nuclear program”. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) a close ally of the New York Democrat, said she would vote for the deal when it comes to the floor next month.
This week two key undecided Democratic legislators – Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who is near Schumer, and Joe Donnelly of Indiana – declared their backing for the arrangement.
Esty said the deal limits Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon, and also contains provisions that allow sanctions to return if the agreement is violated.
Murray said the deal is not ideal, and there are several different elements that would be better if stronger, but working through all the details and looking at alternatives, she was convinced that this deal was the best chance for a strong solution using diplomacy.
Some held banners calling the deal an “American Trojan horse to infiltrate Iran“.
Reid said on Sunday he was “still hopeful” that at least 41 Democrats would support Obama, which would suffocate the resolution in a filibuster and not require a presidential veto.
President Barack Obama sought to convince Michigan residents to back a deal to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon – with Sen.
Rothman served eight terms in the House before losing the 2012 Democratic primary race to Rep. Bill Pascrell after redistricting reduced the number of districts in New Jersey. Secretary of State John Kerry has said that if Republicans can convince enough Democrats to find a veto-proof, two-thirds majority-a very tall task now-it would be “the ultimate screwing”.
White Home spokesman Eric Schultz stated the president and different administration officers are speaking with supporters of the deal in addition to those that’ve expressed skepticism.
Sens. Mark Warner (Va.) and Ben Cardin (Md.), the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, represent voters in WJLA’s viewing area.

According to the Fiscal Times, one measure would be a “poison pill” approach, in which McConnell would open the resolution to a series of politically flammable amendments that would put wavering Democrats on the spot, and enable the Republicans to score political points, even if they don’t prevail.
