Anthony Davis calls absence from practice ‘misunderstanding’
Davis’ status became clouded over the weekend when he did not practice Saturday and considered retiring for a second time in 15 months. After the 49ers and Davis were in contact most of Saturday, Davis returned to practice on Sunday.

Davis managed to get into the Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams for three plays when Colin Kaepernick came out for the team’s final possession in the 28-0 blowout victory.
“No, just leave it and just let it fester”, Davis said, smiling.
But Davis himself did nothing to clarify that notion when asked about the situation Wednesday.
Davis, 26, who started 71 games at right tackle during his first five seasons, surprised the 49ers when the abruptly quit in June 2015, saying he needed a break from the game after an injury-plagued 2014 season. He said he volunteered to switch after returning from his one-year retirement at the start of training camp in July.
“It was a miscommunication between myself and Anthony and we don’t have a miscommunication any longer”, Kelly said.
Also inactive were defensive linemen Glenn Dorsey and Taylor Hart, defensive backs Chris Davis and Keith Reaser, offensive tackle John Theus and quarterback Christian Ponder. Blaine Gabbert threw for 170 yards and added 43 on the ground.

“Any time you can have those kind of stats, your offensive line had to play pretty good”, offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins said.
