Anthony Joshua vows he’s not looking past Joseph Parker

Parker has had the Wembley fight playing on a constant loop at his Las Vegas training base. “And we’re focused on keeping healthy, keeping strong and putting on the best performance of our lives on March 31”.

Parker suspects that Joshua is making the mistake of looking past him by talking of a next fight against WBC champion Deontay Wilder for the undisputed heavyweight crown and perhaps of entering fanciful $500million negotiations with UFC promoter Dana White.

Joshua and Wilder are considered the top big men in the game, and it’s really the only heavyweight fight we all want to happen.

Look at the Klitschko fight: Klitschko tried to go hard shot after hard shot with Joshua.

The heavyweight’s promoter David Higgins then warned the judges of the importance of scoring the fight fairly, even though Fury felt Parker was wrongly awarded victory when they fought.

There is already anticipation and speculation about a future fight between Joshua and Wilder, 32, who has stopped 39 of his 40 professional opponents and has made seven title defences.

“We were friendly [to British media] and invited them to our home”.

It’s not known if Joshua would be an MMA fighter, or would be sticking to boxing under the planned but not yet official Zuffa Boxing banner.

Kevin Barry said the unbeaten 26-year-old will be firing on all cylinders when he steps into the ring for a unification bout with Joshua in Cardiff a week on Saturday.

“We just want to get in there and bash him”.

He is 1/3 to win by KO/TKO and stretch that flawless KO record to 21-0.

“If he trusted in his body, he wouldn’t be trying to change who he is”, Parker said. He’s trying to be leaner, trying to be faster, with better movement.

Of course AJ is in stunning shape as usual but whilst I’m desperately trying to eat like a rabbit to give me a chance of not becoming so fat I can’t get through doors he’s busy stuffing his face with good food rather than food good for him.

The no-excuses line by Parker set the tone when he met the media for the first time since arriving in Britain from Las Vegas, where a nine-week training camp went so well that, he quipped, “I’m starting to see some abs come along”. After some debate over his weight, Joshua has confirmed he intends to tip the scales lighter than for previous fights at “112kg max”, or 17st 8lbs.

Parker has his backers though, with plenty believing the tough New Zealander has enough grit to last the distance with Joshua at the very least.

He added: “That’s a good sign, that’s a good start”.
