Anthony Mackie Is Not A Man Of Steel Fan

“You’re bananas. You should just email everyone you know and just ask them what they thought about the movie”. Mackie asked his interviewer, before being taken aback when the response was Man of Steel.

Which brings me to my interview with Anthony Mackie for director David Gordon Green’s political satire Our Brand is Crisis.

With Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War being released the same year as DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the raging war of Marvel vs. DC is set to kick off once again. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved The Prestige but didn’t understand The Dark Knight.

Frosty: I will defend that movie forever! I loved the awesome, instantly iconic score by Hans Zimmer. It’s just one of those movies that has its teeth in me. Mackie doesnt go into specifics with his problem with the other movie while discussing it with Steve Weintraub of Collider, beyond an implication that the thing was just too damn long, which he probably wasnt wrong about. Instead of replying “Marvel” and moving on Mackie posed his own question, which resulted in an entertaining debate on whether or not Zack Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel is any good. We’re saved! We’re saved!

Frosty: By the way, I love the Marvel universe, and Civil War…

Anthony Mackie: No-no-no don’t say it’s good. You have terrible taste!
