Anthony Martial: Manchester United offer huge £36m for Monaco teen Anthony Martial

The Daily Star claims that United have already agreed personal terms with Martial, who is just 19 and scored nine league goals for Monaco last season, and talks with the club could get under way today.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of attacking talent before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.

With Hernandez set to leave for Leverkusen, Van Gaal risks being left with just one senior striker in Wayne Rooney if he fails to add to his squad before Tuesday’s 6pm transfer deadline.

However, the Red Devils refused to go away and according to French broadcaster Canal+, they raised their offer for the forward to around €55m, but Monaco stood firm.

Manchester United’s strike force is not as strong as it used to be as the side return to Champions League this season.

Now though, RMC Sport – who were the first to break the news over Falcao’s move to Old Trafford a year ago – report that United have made a bid for Monaco striker Martial.

Man United were criticised for a lack of cutting edge following the 2-1 defeat against Swansea City on Sunday and it looks like Louis van Gaal has reacted in the transfer market.

The offer is reportedly worth €50m (£36.3m), which is a staggering amount of money for an unproven teenage forward.
