The game was back and forth throughout much of the night, as the two East coast teams battled each other not just with their stars, but with all sorts of players.

Carmelo Anthony followed up a 17-point showing against Bauru with a 21 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Washington’s Bradley Beal provided the most memorable shot of the evening with a driving dunk midway in the third quarter.

Wizards quintet Marcin Gortat (15 points), John Wall (13), Bradley Beal (12), Kris Humphries (11) and Gary Neal (11) all had double-digit points.

Meanwhile, the rookies tonight had a little bit of everything.

Kristaps Porzingis (9 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks) made plays all over the floor in his second career National Basketball Association game, and his teammates reaped the benefits of the attention he drew – New York’s starting guards Jose Calderon and Sasha Vujacic combined to shoot 5-for-7 from downtown.

OUBRE Indiana: Kelly Oubre Jr., Washington’s first pick in the draft, played for the first time and did not score in 24 minutes.

Overall, the Knicks looked like the better team on Friday, moving the ball nicely and showing that they’re actually bigger this year, out-rebounding the Wiz 53 to 39.

Both are representing the Eastern Conference and are looking to have a positive impact as they continue to prepare for the coming regular season.
