The news comes in the wake of a New York Post report that Weiner had sexted with another woman while his wife campaigned for Clinton.

It was just one month ago that Weiner appeared on Colbert’s DNC-themed Late Show to send a message to Bernie Sanders fans and joke about his past sexting scandals.
Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after being forced to admit exchanging lewd photos of himself with a number of women.
Huma Abedin, the wife of former congressman Anthony Weiner, announced that the couple is splitting after her husband was caught once again sending sexually explicit messages to another woman.
“Huma is making a very wise decision”.
To date, Abedin had remained at her husband’s side, but over the past 24 hours the publication of new photos allegedly sent by Weiner to yet another woman have spurred her to break with him. Abedin often travels with the Clinton campaign.
“The photo and story worry me as a senator, a minister, a parent and a grandfather, because I believe that the disregard for any boundaries of sexual activity with a child present is incredibly inappropriate, and could have a harmful impact on the child”, he told the Post. It’s just another example of Hillary Clinton’s bad judgement. Adding that he feels for Huma Abedin, who recently announced her separation from Weiner, Colbert continued his onslaught of Weiner jokes.
“With Huma, her grace, her intellect and her humility have been unmatched as I’ve watched her go from an aide to an adviser to one of the people at the top of my campaign”, Clinton said in a recent profile of Abedin in Vogue.
BBC News White House analyst Tara McKelvey wrote that the only question is why did it take so long for Abedin to decide to split from Weiner, given his sex scandal history.
A documentary released in May, Weiner, chronicled that campaign and the painful burden shouldered by Abedin, who worked on Clinton’s first presidential campaign in 2008 and followed her boss to the State Department. Who knows what he learned and who he told? Abedin will have to focus – and try not to think about her personal problems. She was her intern in the 1990s during the presidency of Mr Bill Clinton and became a top aide while Ms Hillary Clinton served as a senator from NY. Weiner’s Twitter account has since disappeared.

A friend of Abedin, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the breakup, said she was with her young son, Jordan, and her family members in the Hamptons during the weekend.
