Amid weeks of speculation, former National Football League star Tim Tebow has announced he will not be speaking at the 2016 Republican Convention – but hinted he may get involved in politics in the future. “It’s incredible how fast rumors fly”, he said. “And that’s exactly what it is. a rumor”.

Tebow’s appearance came from two people familiar with the convention planning. The votes came near the end of a marathon 14-hour session of the rules committee to set any changes ahead of next week’s convention to officially nominate Trump as the Republican presidential candidate.

Some of the GOP’s biggest names are declining to participate in the convention.

According to one article, “Trump has a bit of history with Tebow, but it’s likely not one they’ll highlight at the convention”.

But while the #NeverTrump movement has been active, it failed to gain any true traction in Cleveland during the party meetings this week. During the primaries, he and Trump regularly traded shots on the campaign trail, with the real estate mogul memorably labeling him “low-energy”.
