Anti-Trump Protesters Gather In Arizona Rally

The protesters parked their cars in the middle of the road Saturday, unfurling banners reading “Dump Trump” and “Must Stop Trump”, and chanting “Trump is hate”.

Hours after, the road was eventually cleared, which made anti-Trump protesters marched down the highway to the rally site, weaving between Trump supporters who booed and jeered them, according to Bloomberg. Friday night, protesters outside a Trump rally in Salt Lake City, Utah, tried to breach the venue’s doors, causing police officers and Secret Service officers to abruptly shut them as Trump was speaking.

Supporters of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hold up a sign as they wait for a campaign rally, Saturday, March 19, 2016, in Fountain Hills, Ariz.

Trump on Saturday appeared with former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who endorsed the GOP front-runner in January.

In New York, several hundred protesters gathered at Columbus Circle outside the Trump International Hotel there.

Sgt. Kim Bay, spokeswoman for the Tucson Police Department, said the man who hit the protester has been identified as 32-year-old Tony Pettway.

The protest was organized on Facebook by various groups, including immigrants’ rights activists.

“We will do everything we can do to assure freedom of speech in this country”, Arpaio told CNN when asked how he planned to deal with the demonstrators.

“America is now going to realize where Fountain Hills, Arizona is”, Arpaio said when introducing Trump.

The crowd of mostly young people chanted and carried placards denouncing Trump. “And this is for the people of Phoenix, Arizona: We’re going to win at the border”.

“So much crime. Drugs pouring though the border”.

“I would hope that all of us are rightly appalled by the divisive, bigoted and xenophobic comments of people like Donald Trump”, Sanders said.

At one point, a rally attendee got physical with the protester not shown wearing a hood.

The man who ran into him was intoxicated three times past the legal limit, high on methamphetamine and driving on the wrong side of the road, she said.

I’m surprised that Trump wasn’t arrested for the things he’s said because it’s illegal for him to get up in front of an audience and tell the crowd to go beat people up.

“My main mission is to take care of the safety, security of Trump plus everybody else that lives in that town”, the sheriff added. A small group of high school students also stood watch with signs, although they said most of their friends had instead infiltrated the rally. Some of them said police used pepper spray on them as they left the park and started marching. The other, Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, would benefit parents whose children are USA citizens.
