Anti-Trump protests turn violent outside New Mexico rally
They said “several” officers were treated for injuries from rocks and one arrest was made.

During the rally, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was interrupted repeatedly by protesters, who shouted, held up banners and resisted removal by security officers.
Meanwhile, outside Tuesday’s rally, anti-Trump protesters and police clashed when protesters tried to storm the Albuquerque convention center, calling for an end to the Trump rally. Some kicked the devices back at officers. Albuquerque police spokesman Officer Tanner Tixier said in an interview with MSNBC that police showed “an wonderful amount of restraint”.
Authorities responded by firing pepper spray and smoke grenades into the crowd outside the Albuquerque Convention Center in what police later called a “riot”. At least 17 people were arrested. “They don’t even know what they are protesting”, Trump aide Dan Scavino said on Twitter. Trump mocked them, telling them to “go home to mommy”.
Police said they made arrests both outside and inside the rally, where protesters continually interrupted the billionaire NY developer’s speech.
Demonstrations were mainly peaceful earlier in the evening.
Minsu Kim held a “Korean for Trump” sign. Some chanted “walk of shame!” as people entered the venue.
People waited for hours to hear Trump speak. “Hey, I feel badly for everybody, what am I gonna do? I’m in business, OK?”
Karla Molinar, a University of New Mexico student, said she participated in disrupting Trump’s speech because she felt he was attacking members of her family who are living in the country illegally.
By 12:05 a.m. ET on Wednesday, NBC News put Trump 30 delegates away from the magic number of 1247.
According to CNN estimates, winning at least 40 of Washington’s delegates means the NY billionaire now has 1,229 of the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination.
It’s not the first time a Trump campaign event has erupted in violence. In Costa Mesa, California, in April crowds smashed windows on a cop vehicle and tried to flip it over.
The anti-Trump movement started a march down Central and then things started heating up as protestors clashed with Trump supporters.
