Anticipation grows around arena ahead of NBA Finals showdown

The post A King-sized opportunity: LeBron James, Cavaliers can make history with win over Warriors, end Cleveland’s title drought appeared first on Chronicle-Telegram.

In perhaps the biggest game of his career, LeBron James had the game of his life.

On a spring evening in 2002, I went downtown with my dad to a high school basketball game at the Gund Arena (now Quicken Loans).

“At home in the fourth quarter, I felt like we could go for that dagger punch”, Curry added. “It got the best of me, but I’ll be all right for the next game”.

15-3 — Since its founding in 1946 there have only been 18 Game 7s in the NBA Finals.

The Cavaliers also did something never before accomplished in league history, coming back from a three games-to-one deficit in the final round to win.

Stephen Curry was also another force to reckon with for the Golden State with another three-pointer, keeping the team ahead with 11-10 against the Cavs.

Dwyane Wade is at Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and LeBron James’ close friend and former Miami Heat teammate says he’s as excited as the other fans who will be taking their seats at Oracle Arena. “Just a flawless storm, but glad we caught it early as opposed to having it in a Game 7”. “Not that we messed around, but this is why every game counts”. Either way, the game was going to crown the best team ever, or end the wildest rally ever. After losing to the Warriors in the 2015 Finals, with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love on sidelines and hospital beds, the Cavaliers brought back most of a $100+ million roster for a rematch.

The two days off between the games should help and Iguodala said he was able to do a mix of some on-court work Saturday, along with a healthy dose of treatment, but did not participate in practice. Cleveland is outscoring Golden State 28-12 in the paint, but the Warriors have a 30-3 edge in scoring from 3-point range. There, I saved you a bunch of clicks tomorrow morning.

Winning a championship for Cleveland in the wish-upon-a-star storyline I just outlined would be the crowning achievement of the “King James” legacy, but what would a 2-5 Finals record mean? “That’s what you want at the beginning of the season”.

Game 7 was the exact opposite of the six previous games, which hadn’t been decided by single digits. Curry had one MVP-caliber game; Thompson had his moments of flamethrowing, too.
