Antigo students returning after prom shooting
Gov. Scott Walker joined in praising the police response, saying in a statement the actions of the Antigo Police Department “undoubtedly saved lives”.

He described Antigo students as “really nice kids” and said that when he taught there, the worst he ever anxious about were occasional fistfights.
Many in and around the Antigo community are still shocked that a deadly shooting could happen so close to home.
The prom shooting occurred in Antigo, Wisconsin.
Police said the scene had been secured and there was no additional threat to the community. While she said an interest in guns is not unusual in Wisconsin, which has a strong hunting culture, Wagner’s behavior was concerning to her. But he wasn’t sure Wagner could afford a gun.
Nikita Deep, 16, who is class president at the school and was involved in organising the prom, told the Wausau Daily Herald that police came into the building and moved students to one corner. It wasn’t clear if he meant to shoot anyone specific or was randomly shooting.
Wagner had been “bullied a lot”, former classmate Emily Fisher, 19, who graduated from Antigo High School in 2015, told USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin.
Police returned fire, fatally wounding Wagner.
The school will have counselors on hand Monday to talk to students about the traumatic event. He said the gunman was then taken into custody. He used to attend Antigo High School, police Chief Eric Roller said.
Jakob was the only fatality in the shooting, after he was fatally wounded by the officer.
The Antigo Police Department has already issued an official statement confirming Wagner’s death after a police officer shot him while the latter was in pursuit of the suspect.
“The cops honestly did a very good job”, said student Drew Schwarz, who was crowned prom king before the shooting.
Antigo is a city of about 8,000 people 150 miles north of Milwaukee, and the high school has about 800 students.
The two students were shot as they exited the building. His date was from out-of-state, and she was treated and released at a hospital.
Wagner died shortly after 1 a.m.in the hospital. A patrol officer fired at the gunman, hitting him and taking him down.
Bullying is a possible motive in Saturday’s prom-night shooting at Antigo High School. All the people within the prom were eventually escorted from the school and are safe. It was the same feeling for Arrowood and shocking for both that the suspect was someone they knew.

The condition of those injured wasn’t immediately known, but Roller says all three were taken to the hospital.
