“We are not naive to the challenge we face but we are willing to take it on”.
“There was no discussion, there was never even a link apart from people putting silly bets on”.
Nonetheless, Burnley are expected to spend a bit of money in the coming weeks and it has widely been reported that manager Sean Dyche is very keen on securing the services of Dale Stephens from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 45-year-old’s desire for a central midfielder stems from the loss of key midfielder Joey Barton who played a pivotal role in Burnley’s charge to the Championship title before leaving for Rangers.
The Burnley manager may not have quite stewed over criticism but, talking on the eve of a top-flight return, made it plain that he believes British bosses are at an immediate disadvantage. “It’s, ‘go on Pep, tell us about your pizzas'”. “They’re a bit more snazzy, “let’s see what this Belgian manager or this Argentinian manager can do”.
According to the BBC, Dyche said: “Antonio Conte came in at Chelsea and he got commended for bringing a hard, fast, new leadership to Chelsea, which involved doing 800m runs, 400m runs and 200m runs”. “It’s good fuel I think”.
Dyche is considered to be one of the best young managers in the country and he will have undoubtedly have learned from the failed campaign two years ago.
Dyche said that while foreign managers are labelled as innovators, English bosses in comparison can be criticised for a similar approach.
“It seems to me it’s still there, it has been for a number of years, and I don’t think it’s radically changing”. He’s stopped pizza. Nasri was talking about how this new diet was wonderful, saying we don’t eat junk food. We’re kids in the grand scheme of things. “A lot lie over this, in their heart they want to go local young lad, but in the brain they think “we’ll go for the foreign signing”.
Dyche is one of only seven home-grown managers – including Hull City caretaker Mike Phelan – preparing for the start of the new Premier League season on Saturday.
“That’s where it’s gone, it’s hugely grown”.
“It’s fantastic that Leicester took total advantage of that, and that opens the mind a bit more, not remotely for me with Burnley saying we’re going to win the league, but it shows it’s not an exact situation where the big boys win it every year”.

“It gives a more open view when someone like Leicester does what they did”.
