Antonio Conte hopes Chelsea have learned from last season’s shortcomings
Liverpool opened scoring at the 17th minute, with Dejan Lovren guiding a volley into the net from six yards.

Jurgen Klopp claimed Liverpool played “football like hell” after they inflicted Chelsea’s first defeat of the Premier League season. The home side came up with a lacklustre performance in the first half and allowed Klopp’s men to dominate.
“We didn’t start well”.
“The first was after a free-kick that they took very quickly and the second was after a throw-in when they then shot from distance – a good goal”. “They pressured us and we couldn’t cope with it”. We conceded the goals in a odd way.
Asked why he waited, Conte said: “Because in the second half we started with the same players and we had great intensity, scored a goal and created chances to score another”.
It’s important to understand that every single game is very tough and we mustn’t forget last season. “You’ve got to defend well and I thought we defended excellently throughout the game and deserved the three points”.
The Liverpool captain was left with the time and space to pick his spot and Chelsea’s goalkeeper was left to only admire Henderson’s brilliance and bemoan his team-mate’s failure to get to their opponent. “After their goal, we managed it well”. Then it’s hard to create chances. We were quick in mind after set pieces, which we didn’t do too often, but it was wonderful. Before half-time there were times when Chelsea were a bit better in the game but only because we stopped playing football.
“We gave away two goals”, he said.
Chelsea handed a second debut to deadline-day signing David Luiz, in place of the injured John Terry, but defensively they did not impress. Against Liverpool, you play with a good team. “The spirit is really, around the club, perfect, so we just need to keep working stronger and stronger”.

Having already beaten last season’s league champion and runner-up, Liverpool’s third win makes the second-round loss to promoted Burnley even more confounding. “When you want to think like a great team you must pay attention in every moment what happens on the pitch”.
