It was rumoured that such clubs as Juventus and Real Madrid were interested in making a deal for Fabregas during the summer transfer window, yet the 29-year-old claims he never seriously considered any offer. We are training very hard for it.

Chelsea and Liverpool both rested key players but still fielded strong lineups in a bid to stay alive in one of three competitions they’ll enter this season.

Conte lost his first game as manager 2-1 to Liverpool on Friday but was pleased with his players’ response to going behind at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday. “I don’t see any problem in this situation”.

“I’m very clear with my players: when a player deserves to play, I put him in the team”, he added, suggesting that Fabregas might now be in contention to face former club Arsenal next week.

A renewed Chelsea then emerged after the break, with Cesar Azpilicueta levelling the game with just five second-half minutes played.

“We must work on the defensive aspect because if you want a great championship you must not concede so many goals”.

Fabregas returned to the Premier League in 2014 as the playmaker completed a £27m move to Arsenal’s bitter London rivals Chelsea.

“I’m sure that we are working to try and improve, and reach a high level in every game”.

Terry has also been crucial in Chelsea being undefeated against Arsenal in their past nine league meetings and instrumental in them not conceding during the last six of those. Chelsea conceded 53 goals last season.

“I want to win and my choice is done to win”.

The former Italy coach believes that friendlier surroundings meant Guardiola was always more likely to enjoy a superior start n with the Catalan winning his first nine matches in charge.

“This is very important because it showed the will to win and to go into the next round”.
