Antonio Cromartie dubs Odell Beckham Jr. a “one-year wonder”

Antonio Cromartie was asked to name the three best receivers in the National Football League during his Friday appearance on SportsNation-he named Dez Bryant, Antonio Brown and Calvin Johnson.

“I think it’s all about how you carry yourself throughout your whole entire career”, Cromartie said.

Cromartie thinks Beckham, 22, might have risen through the ranks too soon and feels the young receiver still has a lot to learn before he becomes a star in the league. That is hardly the statistics of a player who had one good season and was never heard from again.

Beckham’s athleticism and balletic moves are off-the-charts compelling to watch, and his flashy catches are a few of the most incredible things to behold.

Beckham got fined almost $9,000 for punching safety Duke Williams in the Giants’ win Sunday over the Buffalo Bills.

It has been a tough week for Beckham, who was labelled a “prima donna” and a “golden boy” by disgruntled Bills defenders.

Beckham plans to appeal. “If they need me to block 70 plays a game, that’s what I’m here to do”. These are grown men out here.

The expectations for Odell Beckham this season were always absurd, and everybody knew it. No receiver had ever had the kind of start that he did in the National Football League last season. “I don’t think anybody should be talking about what happened after they lost a game”. “Yes, I give him the utmost (credit) for that”, Cromartie said.

‘But you have to do it week-in and week-out and depend on that person, ‘ Cromartie added. He averaged an astounding 108.8 yards and one touchdown per game a year ago as he finished with a Giants-rookie-record 1,305 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. ‘No matter if you’re getting double- or triple-teamed. “Randy Moss didn’t complain when he triple and double-teamed, and people went after him, also”.

That reality is this: As much as Giants fans love seeing him make spectacular catches and elevate his game to an art form, the people on the other sideline are equally motivated to see his powers negated.

TALK IS CHEAP, Ep. 26: The Giants are the best team in the NFC EastAfter Sunday’s impressive and dominant 24-10 win in Buffalo, one thing is clear: The NFC East is the Giants’ division to lose.

In Week 1, Eric Mangini’s unit produced a magnificent performance, shutting down a Vikings offense that bewilderingly neglected Adrian Peterson and finishing a 20-3 victory with five sacks and an interception of Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Unless, of course, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis exclusively covers Beckham.
