Antonio Cromartie’s defense for getting beat early and often

“This is really not even training camp”, Cromartie continued. “We got a long way to go from last week so hopefully we see a steady progression this week”.

“I’m not really anxious about anything that’s going on right now”, he said, via The Daily News. “We had a couple of good days of practice coming into it. Communication is being developed”. “I’m looking forward to when those lights turn on and you go play football from there”.

DE Ronald Talley, who started in Wilkerson’s place against the Lions, has a groin injury and might not be able to play Friday, Bowles said.

The new-look Jets secondary has had one chink in its armor during training camp – Antonio Cromartie has not looked good. Defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers mentioned that he expects Cromartie to get better as camp progresses like he has done in his career, and Todd Bowles noted some technical errors the veteran corner has made but simply said “He’ll be fine”. “He’s still got some work to do”. “So we have different things that we give him to work on every day”.

“It’s practice”, Cromartie said Wednesday.

Whether or not they can recapture that magic remains to be seen, but what you can’t deny is what Cromartie brought to the franchise his first time around, with 13 interceptions during those four seasons. However, I tend to lean towards the player and them understanding their bodies and what they are capable of putting it through to peak at the right time. I’m used to having two-a-days…. “So you know a lot of people are going to be passing”.

But Bowles acknowledges that he may have to play Richardson more on Friday. The hamstring injury-it’s always been termed a “tweak” by Wilkerson and the Jets-continues to linger. WR Chris Owusu (concussion) and LB Erin Henderson (MCL sprain) will also sit out…. QB Geno Smith was with the team for morning meetings as he recovers from a broken jaw.

“We have too many guys right now”, he said. Wilkerson spent most of the offseason campaigning for a contract extension and then promptly got injured at the start of camp. “Everybody is in the way.”…
