Anupam Kher denied entry into Srinagar, detained at airport — NIT row

The outstation students continue to hold peaceful protest demonstrations by waking up all night on the campus.

“Henceforth, there will not be any need for the students to obtain permission from the administration”, the notification said. There have been no group confrontations and that is a positive point, the Registrar said. Officers said they had no option but to use force after the students refused to disperse peacefully. Today the goal is to meet the NIT Srinagar students to boost their morale.

Chairman, Board of Governors, M J Zarabi has appealed the students to help restore normalcy at the campus and help the institute scale great heights.

Reacting to criticism of the force following unrest in the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here, Baramulla’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Firoz Yehya took on a section of the electronic media.

“A drama is being staged at NIT to cover up the atrocities unleashed on Kashmiri students in Rajasthan, Jammu, Noida and other places”. They said we will make sure something is done on this… At a college in Rajasthan, a group of Kashmiri students were assaulted and their hostel rooms ransacked by suspected rightwing activists after which police registered a case.

In view of the plan of non-local students to leave the campus premises the authorities were planning to announce the schedule for the examination shortly that would scuttle the plan of the non-local students to quit the campus.

“The students are very much frightened and no one is hearing them”. The videos released by the police purportedly show students, some of them masked, stoning buildings and cars parked inside the campus while waving the national flag and chanting slogans.

He said Kher was asked to return to Delhi as there were apprehensions of law and order problems.

Mufti said on Friday the incident at the NIT was a “non-issue and certain people are trying to highlight it as a communal incident”.

“The continuous disturbance can vitiate the atmosphere and affect the career of the students”, the amalgam said.

Following these threats, the girls from NIT Srinagr came out bravely hoisting the tricolor and sent out a powerfull message to the world that they are “Not Afraid”.

Students earlier took out a rally inside the Hazratbal campus and raised protests against the attacks on Kashmiri students studying outside Jammu and Kashmir.
