Anyone Have A Spare Lectern For Paul Ryan’s Challenger?

House Speaker Paul Ryan should coast to reelection here despite a scare from Republican businessman Paul Nehlen, a new poll shows.

“So are you suggesting that we deport all of the Muslims in the country?” “I am absolutely suggesting we figure out.”, Nehlen said.

Note, by the way, that he assures Sykes that there are things Trump could say or do that would lead him to un-endorse, but of course he won’t specify what they might be.

Asked whether he sees any constitutional issues with the mass deportation of Muslim-Americans, Nehlen was defiant: “If someone supports Sharia, that is doing something wrong”.

For about 10 minutes, Nehlen stood before TV cameras and laid into Ryan for being “selfish” for not being more supportive of Trump ― all the while reading from a script held right in front of him by a campaign staffer. “I’m going to defend ourselves so people in this country don’t get a misperception about who we are and what we believe in”, he said.

In December, Trump unveiled a plan to temporarily ban Muslims from immigrating to the United States.

“I like Paul, but these are frightful times for our country”. And I’m just not quite there yet. It’s interesting that he reached for that term instead of “nationalist”, which could also fairly describe Nehlen’s politics just as it accurately describes Trump’s.

Walker will be touring northern Wisconsin on Friday to meet with residents and local officials recovering from flash flooding last month. “She is such a weak candidate that one would think we’d be on offense against Hillary Clinton, and it is distressing that that’s not what we’re talking about these days”.

On Thursday, Ryan again condemned Trump’s remarks about the Khans as “beyond the pale” and acknowledged that at some point, Trump could go too far for Ryan to be able to continue to support him. “But I will do this”, Ryan said. I don’t want to do this.
