Prescription opioid medication was also found at the scene of Prince’s death, according to a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation but not authorized to speak publicly.

Investigators have focused on whether a doctor may have over prescribed him drugs during the weeks before his death.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey did the autopsy April 22.

It’s been revealed that Prince died of an overdose from opioid painkillers.

Prince, 57, was hospitalized the week before his death for a health issue that caused his plane to make an emergency landing in IL. These include a half-dozen previously known siblings and half-siblings, plus claims from a previously unknown half-sibling, descendants of a deceased half-sibling, and at least one man, a federal prison inmate, who says he’s Prince’s son as the product of a one-night stand. The artist said at the time he had fallen ill with the flu.

April 15 – Prince falls ill on a flight home from Atlanta, and the plane makes an emergency stop in Moline, Illinois.

The official said Prince was found unconscious on the plane.

April 16 – Prince hosts a dance party at his Paisley Park complex and makes a brief appearance, showing off a new purple piano.
