APC: Party says it has parted ways with Sheriff
However, the Caretaker Committee headed by Makarfi, through its spokesperson, Dayo Adeyeye, on Tuesday also addressed the press at the party secretariat, accusing Sheriff of having been contracted by the All Progressives Congress to destabilize the PDP.

But Sheriff has refused to recognise the new leadership, maintaining that he is still the national chairman of the party.
“It’s not true that we planted Sheriff in the PDP, we’ve nothing to do with him; we parted ways with him right at our convention venue, prior to the 2015 elections”.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Haruna Yerima, has described the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, as a creation of the opposition party and it should be ready to tolerate him.
“Sheriff must go”, “Sheriff leave our party alone” and “Agent of APC stop killing our party” their placards screamed.
Sheriff, who stormed the party secretariat with his band of supporters, has declared that he remains the Chairman of the party until 2018.
The chairman of the PDP care-taker committee, Ahmed Makarfi later surfaced at the scene. “He came in wrongly and he has been shown the way out”, he said.
“Now that the police have handed over the security of the secretariat to the party, I will be coming everyday as the authentic chairman of the party”, he said.
“All the deputies are waiting; any NWC member that refuses to resume tomorrow, his deputy will take over”. The Eagle Online recalls that Sheriff on Monday stormed the party secretariat to take charge as the leader of the party.

He also claimed that Sheriff adopted a system where he was in ANPP in Borno and PDP in Abuja, adding “Aso Rock was his second home under former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan”.
