APNewsBreak: Investigators look at overdose in Prince death
Investigators are examining whether an overdose of opioids led to his death, and are trying to determine how he got the pills and from whom, The Star Tribune reported, citing sources with direct knowledge of the case.

Anonymous police reports also revealed that they found prescription painkillers on him and inside his Minnesota home.
Investigators are reportedly now trying to determine whether a drug overdose could have led to the iconic late singer’s death and if he had been prescribed drugs by a doctor in the weeks leading up to his passing, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, via Chicago Tribune.
They cited the intense media scrutiny following Prince’s death.LOS ANGELES (AP) In the days since Prince died, YouTube and other uploading sites have been flooded with hundreds of hours of the superstar’s songs, concert footage, TV appearances and music videos.
The law enforcement official has been briefed on the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media.
The official also told the news agency that investigators are probing whether a doctor was prescribing drugs to the late icon prior to his April 21 death.
He said paramedics gave Prince a shot of Narcan after his plane made the emergency landing, which is used in suspected opioid overdoses.
Emergency responders administered CPR, but were not able to revive Prince, who was pronounced dead at 10.07 am, the report said. One possibility is the powerful painkiller Percocet or something similar, the official said. The official did not elaborate.
Prince’s autopsy was finished last week, but the medical examiners office confirmed that the results of the exam won’t be released until at least another “several weeks”.
On Thursday, a Carver County judge sealed a search warrant for Prince’s home and any evidence coming from it, according to court documents.
Various news outlets including CNN also reported that local enforcement has requested the U.
We have not asked them for help, or asked them to be a part of the investigation, Kamerud said.
According to Mail Online, a firm named Heir Hunters International – which specialises in genealogical research and finding heirs around the world – say they’ve been contacted by a man who believes Prince was his father. A retrospective report of 1,000 music stars, published in the British Medical Journal in 2011, concluded that “risk of death for famous musicians throughout their 20s and 30s was two to three times higher than the general United Kingdom population”. “We don’t know to what extent pharmaceuticals could be a part of this”.
