App Tour – Amazon UWP App for Windows 10 PCs and Mobile Devices

After retiring its Windows phone app earlier this week, Amazon has launched a new app offering for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.

Facebook, however, hasn’t ported its client from iOS to Windows 10 Mobile using Project Islandwood, which is Microsoft’s very own set of tools created specifically in this regard, but with Osmeta, a platform that has the exact same role and that is developed by the social network.

The company offers apps on both iOS and Android, allowing customers to order food from the palm of their hand.

The “Amazon” app for mobile, again, appears to be a Hosted Web App, and comes with no splash screen and the same Live Tile functionality as the desktop version. You’ve got 10 days to roll back the Anniversary Update, which will have this problem solved, but if you pass that then you’re going to have to wait until the fixes are delivered through Windows 10 updates.

Although the description states “This app is intended for use on Win 10 PC devices”, it clearly indicates the software will work on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile too.

Have you tried the new app?

For the moment, however, let’s give Amazon credit for releasing this app on Windows 10, and let’s just hope that this is just the beginning and that not only will the company release more updates for PCs, but it will also bring the application to Windows phones, where a shopping app makes more sense. A beta version is expected to be released “ASAP”, however, the final version of the app is unlikely to include an option to add payment methods, so users will still need to do this via the Deliveroo website.
