Appeals court says Brady must serve suspension
The Republican presidential candidate backed the Patriots quarterback after news of his four-game suspension broke.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension stemming from the so-called Deflategate scandal was reinstated by a USA appeals court Monday.
Brady was accused of being aware of a plot to partially deflate footballs used in a January 18, 2015, game against the Indiana Colts, in a controversy that became known as “Deflategate” and “Ballghazi”. Goodell insisted the suspension was deserved.
In the latest development in an under-inflated footballs controversial scandal, widely known as the Deflategate, which has now lasted for more than a year, a federal court of appeals has decided on Monday morning that the New England Patriots veteran quarterback Tom Brady will need to serve a four-game suspension after all for his major role in the said controversy. “This deficiency, especially when viewed in combination with the shifting rationale for Brady’s discipline, leaves me to conclude that the Commissioner’s decision reflected ‘his own brand of industrial justice'”.
Brady could appeal to the full Second Circuit or even the Supreme Court, but both would be unlikely to conclude in his favor, The New York Times said.
At William Hill’s Nevada Sports Books, Tom Brady’s Patriots remain the favorite (7/1) to win Super Bowl 51. “We will now consider with Tom Brady and the union what other options there are to protect his rights”.
He’ll miss the season opener against the Cardinals in Arizona on September 11. “Nor is it our role to second-guess the arbitrator’s procedural rulings”, Judge Barrington D. Parker wrote in the majority opinion.
The NFL then appealed, resulting in Monday’s Second Circuit court verdict.
“Our obligation is limited to determining whether the arbitration proceedings and award met the legal minimum standards established by the National Labor Relations Act …”
Trump began his speech thusly: “First of all let’s start by saying “Leave Tom Brady alone!”. “Usually, the Supreme Court only gets involved when there is a big disagreement between courts of appeals in various parts of the country, and there really is not in this case”.

At oral arguments in March, appeals judges seemed skeptical of arguments on Brady’s behalf by the NFL Players Association. Jimmy Garoppolo would lead the Patriots in Arizona against the Cardinals in Week 1, at home against the Dolphins in Week 2, at home against the Texans in Week 3, and at home against the Bills in Week 4. This means Brady would request that 13 active judges in that circuit all review Monday’s ruling, which was issued by a three-judge panel.
