Apple adds new Night Shift mode to iPhone and iPad

While this may seem unusual, studies show that exposure to blue light in the evening hours can actually make it hard to sleep.

Chief amongst the iOS features is Night Shift, which automatically slides the spectrum on your iPhone or iPad display towards warmer colours, making them easier to read in darkness. It uses the clock and your geolocation to pull off this trick as soon as the sun sets.

Blue light tends to trick our bodies into staying alert or awake, and it’s found in sunlight as well as electronic screens.

Night Shift is a new feature being developed for iOS 9.3, that has just been seeded to developers.

Apple has revealed a beta version of its new iOS 9.3 software which adds three very smart new features.

According to Apple, the shared iPad feature allows students to “enjoy the benefits of having their own iPad in whatever classroom they’re in… and their content is ready to go”.

Apple’s latest operating system for iPhones and tablets will come with an automatic Night Shift mode created to help users sleep better, the company has confirmed.

The Notes app is also getting an upgrade to let you place notes with sensitive information – bank passwords, for instance, or somebody’s social security number – behind a password, or even require an Apple Touch ID fingerprint.

The public are likely to have to wait for weeks before the new features arrive on their phones.

The new iOS 9.3 beta for developers isn’t the only thing Apple is releasing today. As more and more Apple TV apps are released, especially games, owners of the Apple TV will not want their home screens to be an endless line of apps. Beyond that feature, the software also includes the ability for an iPhone to pair with more than one Apple Watch and improvements to apps like Apple News, Notes, Health, and CarPlay. The Classroom app, on the other hand, enables teachers to control all the iPad units of the students attending his/her classroom.
