Apple Boot Camp updated with Windows 10 support
Setting everything up doesn’t take too long and once it’s up and running you can use both OS X and Windows on the same machine.

Apple today released an update to Boot Camp with support for Microsoft Windows 10, according to a new support document. What’s neat about Boot Camp is that it offers native access to Windows via a dedicated partition – Boot Camp is not virtualization software.
The Boot Camp capability is already built into Mac OS X in the form of the Boot Camp Assistant, which you run to set up the utility. This includes the new 12-inch MacBook, the 5k iMac, and the latest Mac Pro.
Boot Camp requires an authentic copy of Windows 10 for a new installation, which can be purchased from Microsoft in an ISO file or USB stick for $119. Apple’s support document covers the instructions for either performing a fresh install of Windows 10 or an upgrade from a previous version of Microsoft’s OS. A range of Mac models will work with Windows 10, including some systems that came out in 2012.

Only the 64-bit version of Windows 10 will work with Boot Camp, Apple said Wednesday in a support document. The new update adds support for USB 3, USB Type-C, Thunderbolt, SDXC card slots, and Apple’s in-house mouse, trackpad, and keyboard. The necessary support software (drivers) for Windows 10 are automatically downloaded when you use Boot Camp Assistant. With a virtual machine, you set aside enough disk space and memory to install and run Windows.
