Apple gives iMac a family makeover

Apple upgraded its iMac family, and finally unveiled the 4K Retina display feature on the 21.5in model, on October 13.

The Retina displays promise to make photos and videos more immersive and true-to-life thanks to a wider color gamut and spectacular image quality. The iMacs also have two Thunderbolt 2 ports which is now the standard for any new Apple iMac models moving forward.

The new Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2 are redesigned and feature rechargeable batteries that completely eliminate the need for disposable batteries, and also brings Apple’s Force Touch interface to the desktop.

For all OS X users who have not upgraded their machines to El Capitan, you will run into compatibility issues because Magic Mouse 2, Magic Keyboard or Magic Trackpad 2 will require the latest software in order to work.

The 21.5in iMac with 4K Retina display is available for purchase at a starting price of£1,199 ($1,841) in the United Kingdom, while the upgraded 27in iMac with 5K Retina display comes with a price tag of £1,449. “The 27” version is more impressive, obviously, because it is larger and has a higher resolution. The Magic Keyboard now has a low profile compared to the previous version and it is priced at $99. The Magic Keyboard is available for $99, the Magic Mouse 2 for $79, and the Magic Trackpad 2 for $129.
