People hoping to walk into an Apple store and leave with an iPhone 7 shouldn’t get their hopes up. The new smartphones, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to drive the sales of the company, but India’s diverse market might also respond well to the older discounted smartphones.

Eager customers joined long lines in cities like Sydney and Hong Kong on Friday as the new models went on sale, more than a week after they were unveiled.
The speedy news comes as Apple revealed it run out of the iPhone 7 Plus and the new Jet Black models.
Initial quantities of the iPhone 7 Plus have sold out globally as Apple Inc prepares to roll out its new gadget in stores, the company said Wednesday, Sept. 14.
It also wants Apple to stop restricting the number of units available to members of the program, and is asking that Apple ensure that customers still get access to the 2017 iPhone when it’s launched next September. And guess what? A majority of these preorders consisted of Jet Black iPhone 7s and 7 Pluses.
Apple hasn’t released any pre-order numbers for the latest pair of iPhones, but the company has let one nugget about sales slip: if you want a jet-black iPhone, you may have to wait a while. The Cupertino giant issued a statement today which says that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus inventory is going to be super limited.

The standard headphone jack has been removed, with users now able to connect headphones through Apple’s lightning port.

But Abhey Lamba, managing director and senior technology analyst at investment bank Mizuho Securities USA, said the thin inventory at stores could be a sign that Apple was expecting a quieter than usual release and reduced supply accordingly.
