Apple is replacing its black pistol emoji with a green water gun icon.
“Apple is working closely with the Unicode Consortium to ensure that popular emoji characters reflect the diversity of people everywhere”, the company said in a statement.
Firstly you’ll need to open WhatsApp for web in your browser.
The public release of iOS 10 is then expected for the fall.
Among the new emojis include a female surfer, female weight lifter, female swimmer and basketball player. Some second amendment advocates may see this as an attack, but there is no need for violence with emojis especially with all of the shootings in the news lately.
Apple is due to release the new version of iOS 10 this fall on iPhone and iPad. The new emoji come following changes to Unicode implemented in July by the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee, which include male and female versions of 33 existing emoji. There is also a new icon of a pride flag as well as depictions of families with only one parent.

Apple has previously introduced emoji of its own, without Unicode’s help, in the past, including an eye emoji as part of an anti-bullying campaign. Also, the organization sent an open letter to remove the gun emoji “as a symbolic gesture to limit gun accessibility”. Each manufacturer gets to design its own drawing for emoji characters: Microsoft also uses a toy gun, while Google, Samsung, Facebook, and Twitter still use realistic-looking guns.
