But the iPhone 5SE has rounded edges, a Touch ID home button and the on/off button placed on the right-hand side of the phone, similar to the newer iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S models. It is also believed that the upcoming iPhone 5SE will contain an NFC chip for Apple Pay support.

Apple blog One More Thing has leaked an image of the widely-anticipated new 4-inch iPhone model.

If the latest report is correct, Apple will show the new phone mid-March.

Apple Inc (AAPL) explored a key sector when the tech firm introduced its larger-screen iPhone 6 and 6 Plus past year, making headlines especially from its fan base in Asia, who had recently let go of phablets from competitors like Samsung Electronics. The 5se will have a 16GB option, but will skip the 32GB variant and offer a 64GB option instead.

Now we might have the first photo of the device in the flesh, placed beside an iPhone 5 for scale. As for its hardware, it is thought to come with an A8 chipset, which was used on the iPhone 6 and curved glass that was used on the iPhone 6s. Turns out, however, that the 4-inch iPhone 5se is set to be the smaller alternative that Apple is launching this year, according to 9to5Mac.

The rumored new device would be about the same size as an iPhone 5s but would come with some of the newer design and software updates found in Apple’s past two releases, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. According to sources, Apple may also announce a few Apple Watch upgrades.

Equipping the iPhone 5se with A9 chip would not only boost the speed of the handset relative to the original 5S, but also enable an always-on Siri on it. It is likely that the current 5S model will be discontinued with the 5se taking its price-point. The forum has credibility for leaking the first images of the iPad Air and iPad Air 2 some years before.
