Apple Is Replacing The Pistol Emoji With a Squirt Gun

The Cupertino, CA-based company has announced that more than 100 new and redesign emoji characters will be available this autumn, with the consumer release of iOS 10 to iPhone and iPad users.

The iOS update includes redesigns of popular emoji, Apple said in a statement. Not to mention, there is a new set of skin tones; to add to the overhaul of old emojis. These emojis were seen by many as a violation of Russia’s law against “gay propaganda”.

Technology giant Apple on Tuesday launched a new iOS emoji pack that show women playing more sports and performing jobs that, prior to the launch, were male-oriented.

This is not the first time Apple has used emoji to convey its stance on guns.

Apple recently collaborated with Unicode Consortium to conceptualize female emojis of a swimmer, runner, mountain biker, surfer, weight lifter, basketball player, construction worker and detective characters.

Apple is replacing its handgun emoji with a water pistol as part of its iOS 10.

There’s also a new rainbow flag, as well as what appears to be a single father with his two children and a single mother with her son.

Apple is enforcing a little gun control as it rolls out its latest operating system: The revolver emoji will soon be replaced by a water pistol.

These, according to 9to5Mac, include a bacon and Pinocchio emoji that may be released in future updates to iOS 10.

Apple and Microsoft, which are both Unicode members, argued against the Olympics-inspired icon in May. Well, if you like your pistol emoji you’ll really want to avoid the next upgrade.
