Apple issues fix after iOS 10 update bricks some iPhones

Apple claims that the iOS 10 is one of the biggest iOS releases ever with important features such as messaging apps with more emojis and animations and new notification system for the lock screen.

Apple started rolling out the iOS 10 update in the U.S. last night, but excitement soon turned to fear as a number of people have reported the update bricked their phones.

A recent post from MacRumors indicated several reports about users getting their iPhones and iPads, in lack of a better term, bricked by installing the recently released iOS 10 update, specifically with the OTA option. Select update to continue the iOS 10 installation. Bugs were reported for iOS 8 as well.

Other users have found the software drains their batteries faster or suffers connectivity problems with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, though these problems will probably be resolved as the device updates and telecom carriers adjust.

When you see the option to “Restore” or “Update”, choose” Update’ and iTunes should then kick in and attempt to reinstall iOS “without erasing your data’. If you fall into this unlucky camp of people, then you need to take the steps below to recover your device. (APPL) is working on a fix and that a permanent update is coming within 24 to 48 hours. This will restart the device.

The users who are affected are those ho commonly downloaded the iOS 10 on the over-the-air update. However, Apple said that it has corrected the issue and explained in a support page for those who are still having the problems. The new operating system also enhances Messages emoji features, with predictions that suggest emoji as you type; a new “tap to replace” feature that lets you “emojify” a message; and new emoji that appear three times larger.
