Apple Music now available on Android

Apple always promoted its music business to get more from its users, but this time the company is trying to cater to a different crowd with it. The Cupertino, Calif.-based firm released a test version of its music streaming service for Android on Tuesday.

As a result, Android users can now commence a similar three-month trial of Apple Music that iOS users were invited to during the summer.

Last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared Apple Music’s early subscriber numbers, which clock in at 6.5 million paid subscriptions to date.

When asked why they made a decision to build the app for Android, Cue answered that music is universal, everyone loves it, regardless of who you are.

While Apple hasn’t said when these features will be added, it has made it clear that Apple Music for Android is very much in beta, meaning it should get full functionality at a few point.

In an interview with TechCrunch, Apple SVP Eddy Cue stressed that Apple Music for Android was created to cater to Android users, not simply as a port of a native Apple experience. Compared to the iOS app, it is expected to have a simpler and cleaner design identified with the Android platform.
