Apple Music now has more than 11M subscribers; iCloud has 782M users

It’s safe to assume that many users are still downloading and using Google Maps, iOS’s original default mapping system, but even if a small percentage of iPhone users are using Apple Maps, 2.5 million corrections out of at least 180 million iPhone users is not too shabby.

After a report said that Apple Music had over 10 million paying subscribers last week, today Apple senior vice presidents Craig Federighi and Eddy Cue let it slip that the number is actually 11 million, and counting. With Apple Music, Apple decided on a design that would put music front and center while also integrating cloud music with hard copies purchased through iTunes.

The new number was revealed in an interview on John Gruber’s “The Talk Show,” podcast which attracts a large audience among Apple developers. Other stats were revealed by the two executives. To clear the air on such doubts about the apps developed the tech giant, Federighi said, that there was “big responsibility in transitioning the experiences for a lot of these apps”. He cited the example of Photos and how they had brought about a huge transition in that aspect, which was quite well received by the customer base. The pair also mentioned that a new remote app created to copy the functionality of the Siri Remote, complete with gestures, is coming to the 4th generation Apple TV. It has slowly been attracting more users, and keeping them. That’s ten percent higher than the figure Apple announced during its last earnings conference call about two weeks ago, when executives announced that Music has 10 million subscribers. At its peak, Apple is processing 200,000 iMessages a second, which works out to 17 billion a day.
