Apple Music surpasses 13 million subscribers
This morning, Apple Music revealed it had passed 13 million subscribers to its streaming service, closing the gap on market leader Spotify, which says it has more than 30 million.

One such note was Apple Music, which now boasts 13 million subscribers. Cook made the announcement during a conference call to discuss the company’s fiscal second quarter results.
The streaming service, led by her husband, the rap mogul Jay Z, since then has jumped to be the most downloaded music smartphone app in both the United States and Britain, according to tracking service App Annie.
Apple’s delay allowed a smaller rival to get a big head start. And by this time next year, once we factor in a new iPhone refresh cycle, it stands to reason that the Apple Music user base may exceed 20 million.
Spotify now has some 30 million subscribers, which makes Apple Music seem relatively small in comparison. They also hope that it will bring more people into the Apple fold, including bolstering the sales of iPhones and iPads. This is based on the prediction that Apple Music will continue to secure a million subscribers for its paid tier every month.
Well…in deed limiting the availability of artists music to a particular streaming service has proved to be a good strategy for the platform, in terms of increasing user numbers. Moreover, Mr. Cook said that the services sector generated $9.9 billion in the quarter, ended March 2016, up 37 percent year-over-year. That said, Apple music is growning at a substantially faster rate. Apple reported US$50.6 billion in revenue, just beating its own guidance but falling short of analyst expectations.

Unlike other market players in the music streaming industry, Apple has not launched any major update. The main reason Apple continues to see success in the music streaming space is because many users have already subscribed to iTunes, which makes it convenient for customers to buy and use content on Apple Music.
