Apple Music Updates Android App with Music Download Support for SD Cards

With reports coming in that sales of Apple’s cash cow – the iPhone – are likely to slow in the coming year, CEO Tim Cook addressed the tech giant’s dependency on its ubiquitous smartphone at a town hall-style meeting for the company’s employees. It is known that Apple has been working on building a cord-cutting cable-replacement service, so it is possible Cook was alluding to this. Finally, Apple Music also offers a Connect feature that allows artists to share content directly to their fans.

Cook also commented on the reported decline of Apple’s iPad tablet. Apple’s hardware, services and software divisions are all working on projects now revealed to a select few, indicating the company is planning for the future and the next evolution of smart technology. Almost one in three active iPhone users use a 4-inch version of the iPhone, as MacRumors reports. By releasing Apple Music on Android, the company probably opened the doors for more porting. Apple has surprisingly made available not one but two Android apps, though one of them has been critically panned by Android users. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5se, the iPad Air 3, new bands for the Apple Watch, and perhaps new Retina MacBooks and Retina MacBook Pros. Later in the year, Apple is also expected to introduce the highly-anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This could mean even more applications – like the recently released Apple Music – for competing mobile platforms, like Android.

This update adds downloading songs to an SD card, so you can now keep more music offline. Making such iOS services work effectively and securely on Android, however, could be fraught with complications. For those unfamiliar with Apple’s Town Hall meetings, they’re internal and private affairs meant to give employees a somewhat rare opportunity to ask the company’s top brass anything that happens to be on their mind.
