If you are expecting the new Apple TV 5th gen to be launched during WWDC this year, then you would be mistaken. But after giving much thought into it, they dropped the standalone option in favor of further improving Siri Remote on the Apple TV.

Microsoft is also planning to allow developers to access its software digital assistant, Cortana.
Picking up the report, MacRumors adds that Apple will also open up its voice assistant to outside developers. As it now stands, Siri can tap into several third party services, but those are the result of individual deals with companies.

Google has shown a demonstration of its new speaker though it did not reveal on the date of availability or even the price. After years of internal debate and discussion about how to do so, the company is preparing to open up Siri to apps made by others.
