Retailers claimed that the reason Apple Pay was not more popular was that customers were satisfied with the current payment systems offered in stores, and they weren’t convinced about the benefits of switching to Apple Pay.

Taking a step into the future, Atlanta-based chicken sandwich giant Chick-fil-A has begun its national rollout of Apple Pay.

The adoption of Apple Pay compliments Chick-fil-A’s own Mobile Pay technology, which is accessible via the company’s mobile app. Senior manager of digital experience Michael Lange says, “Chick-fil-A is focused on using technology to provide convenient ways for guests to interact with our restaurants”. Thus Apple needs to get into as many of these wallets as possible. Last month the company forecast the first slumping sales in a decade.

Apple has recently informed that Apple card reader by Square became available both online and in retail stores for $49. “It lets you be in front of more people in a different way”. This means that users will soon be able to pay with Apple Pay when shopping with the Zappos app, as opposed to having to enter their card information directly into the Zappos app itself.

The news can crucially affect Apple Pay’s popularization.

On top of the new retail locations, Apple also announced some progress for Apple Pay’s in-app feature.
