Apple Pay Is Coming To Mac OS

Soon, Apple says, the service will also support web payments.

“We shop online, we shop on the Web, in Safari”.

Apple Pay is expanding to Switzerland, France and Hong Kong in the “next few months” and will be made available for online payments via an Apple Pay button that uses Touch ID for authentication, the company has announced during a keynote at its Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). You’ll either use Touch ID on your phone or tap your pre-authenticated watch to confirm the purchase, which will automatically process in the browser. The new feature will be available when the latest version of macOS, Sierra, becomes available to Mac users this fall. You’ll just hit the Apple Pay button, which has all your credit card or banking info stored – no need to type it all again or save it in individual retailers’ websites.

The move also means Apple is also firmly setting its sights on PayPal, the current king of payments on the web. So until now, Apple has been missing out on that entire segment of shoppers. “Our customer experience is our best product and we are delighted to offer Apple Pay on the web with Safari in addition to our iOS app, which is live today, to provide security and convenience, making it easier than ever for our customers to deliver smiles”.
