Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Pay will launch this week in the United Kingdom according to HSBC Holdings plc (ADR) (NYSE:HSBC) (LON:HSBA)’s leaked tweet.

The contactless payment service has already rolled out across the United States, which allows iPhone 6 users to pay for products using their device.

According to MacRumors, the bank was “notably absent” from a list of financial institutions that will support the mobile payments platform at the initial launch. It’s due to launch this Tuesday!

Barclays United Kingdom appears to have reversed course on its decision not to support Apple Pay after a new report claims its arrival is “imminent”.

Dan Wagner, CEO of Powa Technologies, said: “The launch of Apple Pay shows that consumer demand for mobile payments is rising and it will continue to rise”. However, staff will be given a pilot of the new service from Monday July 20 until Thursday July 23.

The digital wallet is to be launched on Tuesday, July 14, and has no PIN codes or additional authentication protocols – users just wave their iPhone over a contactless card reader. The message has since been deleted, but local shops recently started adding Apple Pay stickers to store windows, adding to the confirmation.

Apple say their service is far more secure than current payment methods as every time you hand over your standard credit or debit card to pay, your card number and identity are visible.

Apple Pay will work in 250,000 locations in the United Kingdom, including major high street chains like Boots, Costa Coffee, Marks & Spencer, Nandos and Starbucks.
