Apple announced Thursday it is opening its first iOS App Development Center in Europe.

Based at an unnamed partner institute in Naples, the new program will churn out the next generation of iOS developers.
While revenue grew moderately on the Google Play Store in 2014, sales on the iOS App Store kept pace with gains from previous years, bringing Apple developers more than 75 percent more revenue overall than Google’s in 2015.
The company also has plans to expand these development centers across Europe – though it did not reveal locations or a specific timeline – and called itself a “powerful engine of growth” across Europe. So in essence, Apple will be interested to train individuals from various European countries in the trade of development.
The company also plans to work with partners in Italy to offer developer training that complements the curriculum.
Out of the 1.4 million jobs that Apple says it provides in Europe, 1.2 million have to do with app development, offering training and jobs to software engineers, developers, entrepreneurs and non-IT workers. However, the latter, thanks to increasing number of users in the United States, China and Japan, has earned more revenues as Apple’s customers spend more on apps, in-app purchases and subscriptions.
The rest of the top 10 is split equally between apps from western companies (Skype, YouTube and Snapchat) and apps from Chinese developers (Clean Master, 360 Mobile Security and UC Browser).
Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company’s ecosystem now supports 1.4 million jobs in Europe, including 1.2 million jobs attribute to the app economy. There is no doubt over the success of Apple’s App Store in terms of providing a platform for new, upcoming entrepreneurs to transform an idea into a functioning business unit. In Italy alone, more than 75,000 jobs are attributable to the App Store.
The App Development Center will feature on-site teachers and a curriculum to facilitate a strong and diverse development community.
