Apple prepares to show off new iPhones and other products

It’s the first “Super Mario” that’s playable with one hand, the two boasted.

Miyamoto did not announce when Super Mario Run would launch, but did state that it would be IAP free, sold for a single price when it launches later this year.

Today at its September 7 media event, Apple announced a new Mario game is coming to iOS, called “Super Mario Run”.

“Mario has evolved whenever he has encountered a new platform”, said Miyamoto.

Nintendo saw big gains, as shares in the Japanese video game maker surged with the surprise announcement that a new Super Mario game would debut on Apple’s App Store.

In Taiwan, other Apple-related issues, such as Largan Precision, a major supplier of camera lens modules for the iPhone, and major EMS provider Pegatron also came under selling pressure. Tapping the screen will make Mario jump. “Battle Mode will have you not only competing against your friends, but for the first time players from all over the world”, Miyamoto said via his translator Bill Trinen. Mario will auto-run in each level, with the goal being to get to the end-of-level flag before the time runs out and collecting as many coins as possible.

This is medium-sized news for Apple, as developing a signature exclusive game for iPhone is a key step in their longer-term effort to become a player in the gaming space.
