The statement from Apple went on to outline how some adapters had broken over the years and people had received electrical shocks as a result.

Apple said that it was aware of 12 incidents worldwide involving the adapters.

After worrying sales figures and a lengthy Safari outage, the company is recalling millions of power adapters because they could cause an electric shock.

The regions affected that have been listed by Apple are Continental Europe, New Zealand, Korea, Argentina, Australia and Brazil.

These adapters were sold with Mac computers, Apple mobile gadgets and in an Apple World Travel Adapter Kit between 2003 and 2015.

Company officials said customers can trade their recalled adapters for redesigned versions at an Apple store, and it will cost nothing to make the exchange.

The technology giants over at Apple have issued a voluntary recall of their two-pronged adapters. Customer support is also available to help schedule an exchange.

Paul, who is part-owner of Mac Choice in Rockhampton, said he has plenty of new stock to exchange the recalled plug adapters for Central Queenslanders.

Adapters used for the US, UK, China and Japan, as well as USB adapters, remain unaffected.
